Becta Consultancy Framework Agreement
From Schoolforge-UK
Becta has issued the following Invitation To Tender, which relates directly to one of our proposals - the Schoolforge-UK Consultant Accreditation Scheme arising from the Becta meeting:
"Becta intends to set up framework agreements to enable educational
institutions and their agents to obtain specialist ICT consultancy and
ICT procurement consultancy services through simple cost-effective
arrangements but which still provide freedom of local choice. The
overall aim of these agreements is to bring a consistent high level of
accountable and monitored consultancy performance to the education
sector."
"Becta intends to set up the frameworks in two, distinctly separate functional lots. Lot one will be for ICT Consultancy in the educational sector. The second lot will be for Procurement Consultancy supporting lot one. Lot one will be sub-divided into a range of services, and suppliers will be able to select which ones they wish to bid for, and to outline any plans for partnership or sub-contracting aspects of the work. Bidders do not need to be able to provide all of the services in lot 1 initially, in order to be considered for the framework agreements. Becta anticipates that some enterprises may wish to combine as consortia, or to bid in partnership with other enterprises."
"Becta does not undertake to accept the lowest or any price. The agreements will be available to educational institutions or their agents in the private sector as well as to the maintained sector. Orders for the services available under the framework agreements may be placed by the Department for Education and Skills, Local Authorities and Local Education Authorities in England and the equivalent bodies in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, individual educational institutions which may also include those in the post-16 sector, Local Education Partnerships, Becta and other non-departmental public bodies and agents of all of the foregoing."
