HelpDesk / Support Desk (FITS)

RT is an enterprise-grade ticketing system which enables a group of people to intelligently and efficiently manage tasks, issues, and requests submitted by a community of users.
RTIR was developed in cooperation with JANET-CERT (JANET is the Education and Research network in the UK) (CERT = Computer Emergency Response Team). JANET-CERT was interested in RT, but needed additional features to make it optimal for Incident Response.
OSU helpdesk software is Bugzilla that has been modified for helpdesk situations, documentation is poor.

Network Management (FITS)

A selection of web-based tools to help manage networks in educational environments. Includes a support request / issue tracking system and network connectivity tester.
Developed and tested on Linux.
  • Combination of *Snare Client on servers, Syslog-ng and php-syslog-ng makes a really useful logging server. Allows us to track user logons/print jobs and system errors in a multiplatform environment
