In house support:
Most institutions, ranging from The Open University to 150 roll primary aged schools using Moodle find that they do not need any additional technical support in order to host and administer Moodle in-house, as demonstrated by the nearly 1200 individually registered sites in the UK alone. The on-line support provided through the Using Moodle course as part of the Moodle.org community is generally found to be timely and helpful, and any institution that looks after its own webserver, either in-house or via third party hosting, should not find the technical aspects of Moodle hosting a significant burden. Schools are more likely to require support for staff training, the pedagogic concepts and, most importantly, the change management process necessary to make the use of a learning platform both effective and embedded into the culture of the school, although such issues are certainly not unique to Moodle amongst Virtual Learning Environments. However, a number of companies and public sector institutions are able to provide technical support and hosting for those schools that may lack the technical expertise to host their own istances of Moodle; these include, but are not limited to, the following.
Accredited Moodle Partners in the UK:
Moodle partners are a world-wide group of service companies guided by the core developers of Moodle. They provide a range of commercial services for Moodle users, including fully-serviced Moodle hosting, training, remote support contracts, custom code development and consulting. All Moodle Partners contribute directly to the ongoing development of Moodle software via funding and/or expertise.
