SuSE UK Schools email list
From Schoolforge-UK
This is probably the nearest thing to a home for discussions about free software and education in the UK.
Despite being hosted by SuSE (initially as a support list for their distribution, which was offered at discount for educational use) - it has effectively become vendor-neutral territory. There are still SuSE specific technical issues, but it is also home to many discussions about general issues relating to the use of free software in education in the UK and includes subscribers FROM rival companies to SuSE.
To subscribe to the list, send an email message to: <suse-linux-uk-schools-subscribe@suse.com>
The (not easily searchable) archive is here: http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-linux-uk-schools/
The question is are we comfortable about allowing this to become the defacto list for this discussion or should we attempt to arrange a split between the list for technical matters and setting up an alternative, vendor neutral forum for 'schoolforge.org.uk' purposes?
I think yes, with the problem that there will have to be a transition where we cross post a lot! Has anyone experienced mailing lists 'dividing' in this fashion? Richard Rothwell

These days we have our own list, sf-uk-discuss, run by googlegroups, thats vendor neutral and not Linux specific. http://groups-beta.google.com/group/sf-uk-discuss Kyle Williamson
